College and Career Exploration Week November 2021

Our annual College and Career Exploration Week will take place during November 1st-5th, 2021. High schools across the state participate in different activities and share out what's happening at their schools on social media. We wanted to share, from the MHS Counseling Department, the events that are planned for our school. All information can be found under the Guidance & Counseling Tab on the MHS website.

  • The ASVAB will be given to interested students on the morning of November 3rd at the BOE Annex. Students will meet in the main office at 7:25am. Sign-ups are under the Guidance and Counseling Tab.

  • We will be displaying our College and Career Banner created by MTEC!

  • Michele Kelly and the Library Media Assistants have created a bulletin board display!

  • Virtual college visits are ongoing throughout the year and students can view the schedule on the MHS website, under the Guidance & Counseling tab. Students can click MHS Virtual College and Career Visits.

  • Seniors have access to videos about the Promise Scholarship Application and Parchment for requesting transcripts. These can be found on the MHS website.

  • Mr. Gerlach will be available during lunches next week to help seniors with their college applications.

  • Timelines for Student Success resources will be posted on grade level Schoology pages to help students be aware of the necessary steps to take to ensure they are prepared to apply to colleges or jobs.

  • Friday, November 5th, is our school’s College Colors Days. Wear the school colors of the college or university you attended.

  • A virtual Scavenger Hunt is available for all students. Questions are about the college application process and financial aid. They will be entered into a drawing to win Mohigan gear if they answer all questions correctly. Here is the link:

  • Social Media/Tweets - We encourage you and your students to follow @ONEMHS.  We will be promoting our events by using the hashtags: #WhyIChose #IApplied #CollegeBoundWV @CFWV.

  • All teachers will get a paper in their mailboxes to display where they went to college.  Please write your name and where you graduated from and display this outside of your room for all students to see. This encourages communication about post-secondary goals.
