College and Career Week

Our annual College and Career Exploration Week will take place on November 2-6, 2020. High schools across the state participate in different activities and share out what's happening at their schools on social media. We wanted to share out from the Counseling Department the events that are planned for our school.

  • Our CTE teachers have representatives from Pierpont presenting/showing videos on post-secondary topics and careers in their classrooms!

  • WVU has coordinated many of their programs to virtually present to our classrooms on Nov. 4th.

  • The FOCUS2 will be promoted to all students. These are personality and career interest tests that helps students explore certain majors and careers that may align with their future goals.

  • WVU is also hosting their own College/Career Week activities during this time and will be promoted to all students.

  • The ASVAB will be given to interested students as an aptitude and career battery on the morning of November 5th.  Sign up here:

  • We will be displaying our College and Career Banner created last year by MTEC!

  • Michele Kelly and the Library Media Assistants have created a bulletin board display for the week.

  • Virtual college visits have been planned and students can view the schedule on the MHS website, under the Guidance & Counseling tab.

  • Seniors will have access to videos about Promise Scholarship Application and Parchment for requesting transcripts. These will be posted on the Class of 2021 webpage.

  • Monday, Nov. 2nd and Wednesday, Nov. 4th, is our school’s College Colors Days. Wear the school colors of the college or university you attended.

  • A virtual Scavenger Hunt will be available on the MHS website, under the Guidance & Counseling tab, for all students. Click this link to complete the Scavenger Hunt!  They will be entered into a drawing to win Mohigan gear if they answer all questions correctly.

  • Social Media/Tweets - We encourage you and your students to follow @ONEMHS.  We will tweet out prompts to students (i.e. #What colleges are you applying to and why; for teachers - #why did you choose your college? Share #WhyIChose #IApplied #CollegeBoundWV @CFWV).

  • #WHYICHOSE - All teachers will get a #WHYICHOSE paper in their mailboxes today to display next week.  Please write the Name of the School you chose, along with a little blurb about why you chose it, and display this outside of your room for all students to see. This encourages communication about post-secondary goals.
