As we move through the season of challenging weather, please be certain that you have confirmed with your child’s teacher, the arrangements you’ve made for getting your child home, in the event of an early dismissal. At the beginning of the year, you completed a “Dismissal Information Form”, on blue paper. We will follow those instructions unless you notify us of changes in writing. Please plan in advance, and refrain from calling the school office to make last minute changes. With 830+ students, it’s a challenge to field a huge number of phone calls during these emergency schedule changes. We appreciate your cooperation.
INCLEMENT WEATHER DAYS OF INSTRUCTION
As schools grapple with losing days of instruction because of inclement weather, potentially causing an extension to the school year, Monongalia County Schools has developed a plan to address this challenge. By strategically planning learning activities, utilizing our Chromebooks, and through the development of specialized activities, our ARCTIC ACADEMY DAYS will allow our schools to reimagine classroom time disrupted by the weather, or other calamities, so that we do not lose days of instruction.
Our students have been given appropriate instruction to complete these activities. If you have questions, please contact your child’s teacher.
GIRLS ON THE RUN
We are happy to announce, that CLES is once again offering the Girls on the Run Program for our students. Using a fun, research-based curriculum that creatively integrates running, girls are inspired to reach their limitless potential, not just for the length of the program, but for life. Recognizing the important connection between physical and emotional health, the program cultivates healthy behaviors that will last a lifetime. 97% of girls said they learned critical life skills. 94% of parents reported it was a valuable experience for their daughters. 96% of schools would offer the program again.
First Grade Teacher, Jaclyn Pietrowski, is our GOTR Coordinator. Please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org with your questions.
