The chill of February is behind us, and we wonder if our “Groundhog” friend was right. Whether we work through an Arctic Academy Day, or alter our plans for snow, the learning never stops at Cheat Lake Elementary School. Our teachers are teaching strategically, and our students are maintaining their strong work ethic, dedicated to meeting their personal and/or classroom goals. CLES is a busy and productive place!
Assistant Principal Kristi Mullenax and I, accepted two awards from the Monongalia County Board of Education, celebrating the academic achievement of the students at Cheat Lake Elementary School, based on last year’s West Virginia General Summative Assessment (WV-GSA) in the categories of math and reading. The certificate reads… ”The West Virginia Board of Education and the West Virginia Department of Education recognize Cheat Lake Elementary, Monongalia County, for meeting its annual target in the areas of English Language Arts Performance, and Mathematics Performance.”
It is great news to hear of our success from the State Board of Education, and I would like to congratulate and thank the dedicated staff of CLES, and most importantly, the students who have worked so hard to set goals and continue to work each day to reach those goals.
Congratulations to you all!!
On behalf of Mrs. Wise, Second Grade Teacher, and me, I would like to thank everyone involved in the Best of Morgantown Survey who voted to select us as your Favorite Elementary School Teacher and Elementary School Principal. Both of us realize, that any success we may have, has not happened in isolation. It takes many people, working together, to make a classroom or a school successful. We appreciate the many well wishes and good thoughts and look forward to more great experiences and successes with your children.
We are excited to welcome back Mrs. Marcus and Mrs. Cottrell, who have been gone from us for a few months. During their absences, our students have been well served by Katherine Tucker and Ashley Kerns, and we thank them for their hard work and dedication.
Is Spring around the corner? Let’s hope so.
