WVU Football participates in the national "Extra Yard for Teachers" initiative, a College Football Playoff Foundation program that elevates the teaching profession through resources, recognition, and recruitment and retention efforts. The program annually celebrates teachers during "Extra Yard for Teachers Week" in the fall by providing them with recognition, resources, and special events, sometimes involving the WVU football team visiting local schools.
